Your photos stay yours.

1. What we collect

Nothing. Picaroo does not collect, transmit, sell, or store your personal information. We have no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics services, no advertising networks, and no third-party trackers embedded in the app.

We do not know who you are, we do not build a profile of you, and we have no server that receives any information about you or your use of the app.

2. What stays on your device

Everything Picaroo makes lives on your phone:

• The photos you choose are read from your photo library only while you're making a picaroo, and only the two you select.
• The picaroos you save (the looping animation and its video) are stored in Picaroo's private storage on your device. They are included in your device's own backups, but they are never sent to us.
• Your settings, like whether you've seen the welcome screen, are stored locally on your device.

Deleting a picaroo in the app, or deleting the app itself, removes this content from your device.

3. Permissions we ask for

Picaroo asks for the fewest permissions it needs, and only when it needs them:

• Photo selection. When you pick two photos, iOS shows you its own photo picker, and Picaroo only receives the two images you choose. This needs no special permission.
• Photo library access (Magic Scan). If you use Magic Scan to have Picaroo suggest pairs for you, it asks for access to your photo library and reads your recent photos to find good pairs. All of this happens on your device — the scan, the comparison, and the results — and nothing is uploaded or sent to us. This access is optional; the rest of Picaroo works without it.
• Add to Photos. If you choose to save a picaroo's video to your camera roll, Picaroo asks for add-only permission. This lets it place the finished video in your library.

You can review or change these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

4. When you share

When you tap Share, Picaroo hands your video to the app or destination you pick — for example Instagram, TikTok, Messages, or Files — using your device's standard sharing tools. From that point, the information you shared is handled by that app or service under their privacy policy, not ours. We'd encourage you to review the policies of the apps you share to.

If you use the option to open X (formerly Twitter) to post a saved video, that simply opens the X app or website; anything you do there is governed by X's own terms and privacy policy.

5. Children's privacy

Picaroo is designed to be family-friendly, and it's common to make picaroos of children and loved ones. Because Picaroo collects no personal information from anyone — regardless of age — and transmits nothing off the device, it does not knowingly collect data from children. Photos of children that you use to make a picaroo stay on your device, under your control, just like any other photo.

6. Security & retention

Because Picaroo keeps everything on your device and sends nothing to us, your content is protected by your device's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and encryption. We retain no copies of your content because we never receive any. You decide how long a picaroo stays, and you can delete it at any time.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how Picaroo works in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. If a future version of Picaroo ever introduces a feature that collects data, we'll explain it clearly and ask for your consent before it does.
